Received this email today from my friend Eileen Pestorius.  I went with Eileen and a group of artists in May two years ago.  The itinerary is wonderful, the farmhouse location is stunning, and Eileen is a fun and well-versed tour-guide!  Feel free to email me with any questions- Sue Wiley

Sue, is it possible to forward this to whomever puts out your newsletters?  The weather last year was PERFECT and the house was all reroofed and a Dutch man has really whacked the overgrown garden areas and worked on the interior.  Front steps are redone. He's great!   Victor and Johanne are still our helpers and friends, thank heavens!!! I finally bought a drawing of David Chapman's from his charming wife Pat, who had coffee and a wonderful apple cake for us.  She is letting the house in the summers to make money, and teaching classes.  I hope she can stay there! cheers, e

    PAINTING IN FRANCE, MAY 2011
Eileen Pestorius will accompany a small group of painters to southern France in late May for a two week period, meeting in Avignon.  (Fly to Paris and take the TGV rapid train from the airport.) Once there, everything is included for $2900, including all meals, tips, rent, transport, wine, sightseeing, history, and fun.  For more information, go to www.thewestmill.com or contact Eileen. A deposit holds your place; you purchase air and train fare.  Avignon is a beautiful and historic walled city on the Rhone River, former home to the popes, and the source of delicious Cote de Rhone wines. There are outdoor markets, restaurants, shops, and delicious foods nearby.  The house, once a mill 400 years ago, sits above a quiet river on eleven green acres. The area is in the foot of the Cevennes Mountains, in Provence and Languedoc amid vineyards and olive groves.  Poppies and iris will be in bloom. Nearby towns are St. Jean du Gard or Anduze, if you like maps. Life is best lived gathering experiences, not things, and spring will be here before you know it, so act now to grant yourself the joyous gift of travel and art.

Austin Pastel Society members Susan Carlin, Mary Beth Martin, Libby Peters, Deb Richardson, and Sue Wiley have been selected to represent Texas pastelists at the tenth annual Festival International du Pastel 2010 in Feytiat, near Limoges, France, and in Saint Florent le Vieil, near Nantes, France, this summer.

The exhibitions, sponsored by the Société des Pastellistes de France, will draw more than 20,000 visitors over a three-month period. These APS members join Diana Moya, who has participated in the event in the past and who nominated the artists, and two other Dallas-area pastelists at the prestigious show in France.

Mary Beth Martin has discovered a way to be paid to get her work in 30,000 Wyoming homes!

Mary Beth Martin's pastel, "Little-Rodeo-Clown-copy.jpgLittle Rodeo Clown", was selected to be on the cover of a phone directory for the Casper Wyoming area and will be distributed to 30,000 people!

This gig will pay in more ways than one: in addition to a paycheck, Martin will be mentioned on the inside cover and in an ad in the arts section. Sweet! The phone book specializes in using fine art on their covers in the Montana, Utah, and Wyoming areas.

    Way to go Mary Beth!
