Jia Wei enjoys the historic tradition of painting self portraits, portraits and figures from life. His self portraits are accomplished by looking in a mirror, for accuracy in colors. Wei enjoys using Yicai sanded paper, produced by the Ming Gallery of Art. His painting, Self-Portrait, won 1st Place Portrait & Figure in the 21st Annual Pastel 100 competition, and is featured in the April 2020 Pastel Journal.
