It has an interesting pattern created by the horizontal clumps of grass that jut out into the water from both sides at repeated intervals, creating a zig-zag rhythm that takes the eye back and forth between the bright gold tree at the back and the geese near the front. The element of space is created by the gradual reduction in detail as the grasses recede into the background. This painting also ranks high in unity, balance, pattern, rhythm and composition.
