It’s so hard to know when to stop and let a painting sell itself…and Sherry knew just when to put her pastels down and sign it. This painting is so splashy and loose that it makes me happy. There’s a rhythm to the streaks of rich unexpected colors that lead the eye down the path and around the bend to an unknown destination. It’s clearly a joyful path! With dark tree trunks, a deep rich foreground, and branches that curve over the path, she skillfully leads the eye around the painting and back to the center of interest, where those colorful streaks of light criss cross the path. Many of the forest plants are simply suggested with a few playful strokes. This is a painting I admire. (Judge comment: Jody Martin)
