Yingying’s ability to use dry pastels to make something look so wet is amazing! The colors are yummy, and it looks so real that it makes me want to jump in! The subtle changes in hues and values in the light green wave give it a translucent appearance, while the deep green at the bottom of the waves adds contrast and depth. There’s a nice rhythm created by the swirling lines. They seem to carry me along the falling waves and back up through the rising foam, on an exciting ride that keeps me involved in the motion of the surf.
